Press Release for Blast From The Past
Do you remember the days when speedway riders wore black leathers, rode chrome-plated JAP-engined bikes and had names like Tich, Sid and Bert? Have you ever looked at old speedway newsreels or thumbed through a dog-eared copy of a speedway magazine and wondered “what was it like in the old days?”
If you remember those days or just want to know what it was like before laydowns, green helmet colours and kevlars, then come to see Blast From The Past when they ride at a speedway track near you.
Blast From The Past is a group of ex-professional and enthusiast speedway riders who go round the country demonstrating how speedway used to be in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Race formats can include individual, best pairs and 4 man-per-team challenge matches over 6 heats. Kitted-out in their black leathers and period race jackets from many famous old clubs, the Blast From The Past riders help bring back a golden era of racing.
The machines ridden are all powered by the famous J.A.P (J.A. Prestwich) speedway engine and housed in many different types of frame including Erskine, Excelsior and Rotrax. The J.A.P speedway engine was manufactured at the company’s large factory in Tottenham North London, together with other engines for a wide range of uses from stationery engines to light aircraft. The J.A.P speedway engine dominated the sport for nearly forty years and was a true testament to British engineering.
The dedication to reliving this era is funded by the riders themselves, who maintain their machines, pay their own travelling expenses and take time off from work to do what they love best, which is riding vintage speedway.
The riders hope you will come to see them when they visit your local track. They look forward to meeting you, answering your questions and sharing with you on track some of speedway’s history. For further information go to the Blast From The Past website at HYPERLINK “http://www.vintagespeedway.co.uk/” \t “_blank” www.vintagespeedway.co.uk

no-brakes-uk is a relatively new name in Speedway but we are quickly building a reputation for our quality hand-painted models where attention to detail is second to none. From the very first hand-painted Maisto bike, a Jason Crump 2006 model which was auctioned on ebay, to the latest ones, every bike receives the same attention to detail for a quality finish.
Almost any bike livery (we haven’t turned one down yet!) can be reproduced in 1:18 scale on these already finely detailed models of around 120cm in length. From Grand Prix, World Cup and Elite League bikes to Premier League, Conference league and even unknown riders liveries.
Go take a look:

I recently visited the British Speedway National Museum. Whether you are interested in speedway or not it is a great visit. There is lots of great vintage historical items and information.
The actual museum is situated in the grounds of the Paradise Wildlife Park At Broxbourne. So you can take the family for a day out at the same time of taking in some Speedway.
Its a definite winner all round for every one, so pay it a visit you wont regret it.
Click on the link below to see a quick video.

Worldspeedway.com began April 2006 as an attempt to plug a gap and create a 100% dedicated speedway news site. Our intention was, and always has been, to carry as much worldwide speedway news as possible, but only news which reaches us from official sources. So the fans get the facts and not the rumours…..
We now carry anything upwards of 20 new stories each day. Our unique speedway news feed is carried by many other speedway sites around the world meaning the “gospel” is extremely widely read.

Brian Darby, then aged 57 in 2000, mentioned to his son Peter that he would like to create a website for his vintage speedway interests and memorabilia.
Little did Brian know that in the next 8 years he would go on to create ten different websites, 9 on vintage Speedway and one on vintage Aussie Road racing.
Brian started watching Speedway at the age of 11 at the Sydney Sports Ground Speedway in 1953 and was hooked for life, he went on to enjoy many, many years of Speedway and motor racing, as a spectator, working on racing cars from 1958 to 1963, being an Experimental Technician and test driver for a major car manufacturer, a Speedway photographer for 7 years and eventually in 1995 buying a wreck of a vintage Speedway midget, restoring it and running it in vintage speedway demonstrations up until 2006. The full restoration of the midget can be seen on the ‘ vintagespeedway’ site. Brian was also the Secretary of The Veteran Speedway Riders Association of Australia for two years.
Brian’s retirement days are now spent on maintaining and improving the websites with new material and still enjoying his midget via static displays at Car Shows and his involvement with the Vintage Speedcar Association(NSW) Inc.

Motion Media is a video production company located in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. We organized in 2001, with emphasis on Video Production of Weddings and Special Events. The events of September 11th of that year caused us to put the business on hold until we completed a tour of active duty in the US Air Force.
During the 2008 Racing Season, we are professionally producing DVD presentations of the weekly racing programs at South Mississippi Speedway in Gulfport, MS. Check back often as we update the website from week to week throughout the year. The finished productions are made available at the racetrack on the Saturday FOLLOWING the races at the racing collectibles trailer near the speedway grandstands. DVDs may also be ordered here, either online or by downloading and mailing the order form.
Mike Golden, the owner of Motion Media, brings to the exciting sport of dirt track racing a lifetime of experience in broadcast television. He has photographed for television news everything from local high school football games to visits by presidents of the United States. During the late 1990’s, he produced a series of religious documentaries in Israel. He has traveled the world as a video production specialist in the Air National Guard. Now, Mike brings his skills to the racetrack. The weekly race programs include ALL THE ACTION from the playing of the national anthem through the last feature race of the evening. Drivers have said that they learn from their mistakes watching the video. Fans collect all their favorite races and spend the off-season reliving the excitement with their friends and family.
